Nashville based brothers/cousin beardies Kings Of Leon return with an album more mature and instantly likeable than their critically-acclaimed debut, "Youth and Young Manhood".

High tempo rhythms, powerful bass riffs, tom toms and tambourines combine to produce a "retrogressive" sound, slightly left of centre, between The Zutons and The Strokes. Frontman Caleb Followill's  gritty, southern vocal is wholly suited to the Kings' raw rock 'n' roll sound.

Highlights are the pounding "Taper Jean Girl", the beautifully haunting "Day Old Blue" and obvious lead single "The Bucket", which seems to encapsulate the mood of the album in a single track.

On top of triumphant sets at this year's Glastonbury & V festivals, it's very easy to see the family Followill consolidating their position as the US kings of rock.
