From the overabundance of compilation albums like "the greatest best of party mix album for lovers ever III Vol 2" occasionally shines a truly classic mix. Andy Smith – "The Document", Coldcut – "Journeys By DJ", Nightmares on Wax – "Late Night Tales" or DJ Yoda – "How to Cut & Paste" are some of the finest contemporary examples to date. Add to that list Jazzanova – "Mixing".

Berlin-based producer collective Jazzanova, behind some of leftfield dance music's most mesmerising mixes since their formation in 1996, have produced an eccentric mix of "genre hopping" musical variety, blending jazz, latin and house beats.

By their own admission, they are very much influenced by those eclectic radio sets from the likes of Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge, who put the focus on a song orientated mix rather than mixing track after track.

This mix features R'n'B, soul, electronica and hip hop alongside classics from the likes of Carol Williams and Bahamadia. A number of tracks were exclusively produced by Jazzanova specifically for this album, ensuring they kept control of the vibe and tempo so that the tracks "shook hands with each other". They also spent time tracking down some rare and unreleased tracks/remixes, the kind of attention to detail that helped to create this masterful musical journey.
