When a top UK band release their first album for a period as long as 7 years, the emphasis always tends to be on what the album should be like rather than what it is like. Step forward The Prodigy - "Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned".
Panned by the music critics upon its release, this truly is a rough diamond of an album. It's essentially a mash-up of breakbeats, basslines and samples blended with inspired guest vocals from Liam Gallagher, Kool Keith, Princess Superstar and Juliette Lewis (or is it Garbage's Shirley Manson?).
The "resting"(!) of Keith Flint & Maxim would appear to signify Howlett's intent to move The Prodigy back to his raw electronica roots and away from some of the hard-edged punk elements of the past.
After 2002's disastrous "Baby\'s Got A Temper", which Howlett describes as "a fucking load of shit", and which ultimately led to the original material for this album being scrapped, it would appear that The Prodigy are back to what they do best.
It just goes to show, don't always believe what you read in the papers.
